The Acadiana Center for the Arts Phase II Expansion is a 20,000 square foot addition to the original facility and the culmination of a multi-phased project designed by two firms in collaboration and an international team of acoustical and theatrical consultants to provide an intimate 300 seat reconfigurable and flexible venue for downtown. The project also contains associated museum quality galleries, workshop areas and meeting spaces. This project can accommodate various types of performances from theater, dance, film and musical performances ranging from a full orchestra to a Cajun or Zydeco band.

The flexibility of the theater is further evidenced by its ability to transform completely, from an open room with up to 6,000 square feet of flat floor space to almost any type of seating arrangement imaginable in a proscenium, thrust, black box, or theater in the round configuration. All of these activities can occur within a setting that possesses acoustical qualities that rival or surpass any facility between Houston and New Orleans. The owner has stated, “The Theater will provide citizens the opportunity to enjoy arts and culture in the area while showcasing state-of-the-art technology, fostering educational opportunities and preserving our distinct cultural heritage.”
